International Junior Auctioneer Championship (IJAC)

Clerking Software Presented in Partnership withAuction Flex
The second annual International Junior Auctioneer Championship (IJAC) will take place on Wednesday, July 9, at 1 p.m. Open to youth age 12 to 18, the IJAC Champion will win $1000, a trophy and complimentary registration into the adult division of the International Auctioneer Championship once the winner meets the minimum age requirement for the IAC.
Contest deadline is May 30, 2008 at 5 p.m. (central time). IJAC participants are not eligible to compete in the International Auctioneer Championship on Friday, July 11. Contestants must register for this event on Registration Form E and complete the IJAC Contestant Information Form.

NAA's premier showcase of auction talent will be on Friday, July 11, during the International Auctioneer Championship. A top male and female will each be recognized and awarded with a $10,000 cash prize. Champions will also receive a trophy and championship ring. The event hosts will be NAA's 2007 IAC Champions Denise Shearin, CES and Bryan Knox.
Contestants are required to submit the Contestant Information Form, a photo, and the $350 entry fee. Contest deadline is May 30, 2008 at 5 p.m. (central time). Contestants must register for this event on Registration Form E. IAC participants are not eligible to compete in the International Junior Auctioneer Championship on Wednesday, July 9.

Kimball Sterling, president of Kimball M. Sterling Auctioneers of Tennessee will present "The New Foe of Auctioneers-Live Internet Auction Crashes." He was involved in the largest EBay crash that has ever happened on October 20, 2006. There were over 28 auctions affected and he lost over $1,000,000 in sales. Mr. Sterling is well known for the estate auction of the Alex Haley Estate and is also a two-time winner of Best of Show from the NAA.

The UCC lays the foundation for all sale contracts made in personal-property auctions and defines numerous rules auctioneers must know. This seminar will cover the basic law of contracts, the crucial "auction statute," the "as is" disclaimer, expressed and implied warranties, plus other key points of commercial law that apply to auctions.
