2006 Marketing Competition Winners

OVERLAND PARK, KAN. – The innovative marketing efforts of auctioneers from throughout the U.S. and other countries, have been recognized by the National Auctioneers Association (NAA) through its 2006 Marketing Competition. The annual competition rewards NAA members for their creative thinking and effectiveness in marketing their businesses and the auction industry. This year's competition drew 948 entries, the second highest on record.

More than 80 categories made up the competition with three divisions: Photography, Advertising/Public Relations and Auction of the Year. The categories focused on a myriad of promotional programs and pieces including newspaper/magazine advertising, member web site, television commercial, auction appraisals, business newsletter, news release and more. Once again this year, the Auction Printed Materials drew the largest number of entries.

Winning "Best of Show" in the Photography Division was Richard Keenan, CAI, AARE, of Keenan Auction Co., South Portland, Maine. John Kruse, GPPA, of the Worldwide Group, Auburn, Ind., received the "Best of Show" award in the Advertising/Public Relations Division. The Auction of the Year award went to Stefan P. Keenan, CAI, AARE, of the Keenan Auction Co., South Portland, Maine. Stefan also took the top "Grand Champion" prize for his Auction of the Year entry.

Entries were judged by a panel of professionals, including world-leaders in text and multimedia news distribution, communications/public relations specialists and printing company experts. Judging criteria included creativity, effectiveness, clarity, appeal and more.

All winners will be formally recognized during an Awards Breakfast which will take place from 6:45 to 8:15 a.m. Wednesday, July 12 as part of the NAA's 57th International Auctioneers Conference and Show in Orlando, Fla. Winners will receive a plaque, and their winning entries will be displayed for their colleagues to view.
